Our Approaches

Play-Based

In Acres of Fun, we follow a play-based approach where learning is both child-initiated and teacher-supported.

Play-based learning provides opportunities for children to:

  • Actively and imaginatively engage with people, objects and the environment.

  • Organise, construct, manipulate, pretend, explore, investigate, create, and making sense of their worlds. Develop holistically (physical, social, emotional, cognitive and creative - gain a broad range of literacy and numeracy skills)

The teacher's role in scaffolding play is pivotal.

If utilised effectively, possible characteristics may include: active, agentic, collaborative, creative.

Reggio Emilia

In Acres of Fun, we believe that every child is competent in their own way.

Reggio Emilia approach provides opportunities for children to:

  • Practice self-directed as they explore their curiosities.

  • Enhance their cognitive development and ensure a sense of belonging

The teacher's role under Reggio Emelia is crucial.

Advantages of the Reggio Emelia approach are respect, responsibility, and community where learning happens through exploration, discovery, and play therefore the classroom acts as the third teacher.
